‘The Movement’, an epic tribute to Black Lives Matter and the domino effect of activism, makes its DMV debut at Strathmore

On June 19th, 2023, The Movement made its premiered for the first time in the DMV at Step Xplosion in Bethesda, MD. A new work choreographed by celebrated Step Afrika! performer and Assistant Artistic Director, Conrad Kelly II, The Movement is an epic tribute to Black Lives Matter and the domino effect of activism experienced in 2020.

The 2023 iteration of Step Xplosion also featured exciting performances from step teams from across the region including the Virginia State University NPHC All-Stars (Petersburg, VA); Brooklyn Divas (Brooklyn, NY); Dem’ Raider Boyz Step Squad (Greenbelt, MD); Blue Madness Stroll Team (Bowie, MD); and Fatal Attraction Step Squad (Baltimore, MD).
