On December 4, 2008, Step Afrika! performed during the Lighting of the National Christmas Tree for President George W. Bush and the first lady in Washington, DC. The performance took place during the opening ceremony on the Ellipse at the annual event. The tree was a live 40-foot Colorado blue spruce that was transplanted in 1978 from York, Pennsylvania.
