On April 17, 2019, Step Afrika! touched down in Lviv, Ukraine for the start of a groundbreaking 5-country tour. The Company toured Ukraine April 17-27 and Croatia May 2-12 before heading to Bahrain June 24 – 30, then traveled to Africa to tour Zambia, Angola, and South Africa September 8-30.
UKRAINE
The Company spent 10 days in this beautiful country performing for amazing audiences, teaching master classes, and learning some traditional Ukrainian dances in Uzhgorod, Ivan-Frankivsk, and Lviv.
CROATIA
While the Company was on tour, The Good Morning Croatia show featured an in-studio performance and interview with cultural presenters Laura Djugaric and Step Afrika! Founder & Executive Director C. Brian Williams.
BAHRAIN
Opening for the 2019 Bahrain Summer Festival was only one of the activities on the agenda while touring Bahrain. The Company performed for a packed house and received a standing ovation for their performance.
zambia
Step Afrika! enjoyed a wonderful week filled with positive energy, cross-cultural experiences, and health awareness in Zambia. The U.S. government is committed to seeing Zambia reach HIV epidemic control by 2020 was proud to see scores of people turn up for health checks ranging from HIV tests, high blood pressure, and malaria.
While in Zambia, Step Afrika! conducted a series of workshops with girls from some Dreams centers in Kabwe and Lusaka. Its tour ended with a final, electrifying performance at the Government Complex in front of a full house.
ANGOLA
Encouraging international engagement across the Company’s social platforms, Step Afrika! performers invited audience members to participate in the “Step Afrika! Angola Challenge“:
South Africa
Amidst the return to South Africa, the Company visits the memorial of Mbuyiselwa Jacob (Jackie) Semela, founder of the Soweto Dance Theatre and founding member of Step Afrika!’s International Cultural Festival.
