The Company Brings Stepping to Lesotho and Eswatini for the First Time

As a U.S. Cultural Ambassador, Step Afrika! brings professional dance performances to theaters and festivals around the world.

LESOTHO (SEPTEMBER 8 – 11, 2024)

Following the Company’s late summer tour of South Africa, Step Afrika! visited the mountain kingdom for the very first time. The list of engagements included a reception with local government representatives, engaging workshops and performances for the students at Hoohlo Primary School, Busy Bees Primary School, and the American International School of Lesotho and Sentebele, and a public performance at the Nada Restaurant Amphitheater.

“We want the young people here to understand that dance is not merely an art form – it can be a career, a means to make a living and a way to express oneself,” said Sentebale’s Country Director Ntoli Moletsane at Step Afrika!’s engagement at the Sentebale Children’s Home in Thaba Bosiu.

ESWATINI (SEPTEMBER 11 – 14, 2024)

Step Afrika! then traveled to Eswatini for engagements with U.S. Embassy Eswatini representatives, workshops with the Eswatini National Dance Association, educational programs with the St John Bosco High School and Somnjalose High School, and a free public performance at the Eswatini Theatre Club on September 14, 2024.
